Psychedelic-assisted therapy is being studied for its potential benefits in supporting individuals at the end of life. Research indicates that psilocybin can reduce depression and anxiety in patients with life-threatening diagnoses, and ongoing work aims to integrate these therapies into palliative care. Beyond the clinical aspect, psychedelics encourage a deeper engagement with death, highlighting it as a universal experience that requires presence and compassion. In this course, we will focus on three specific substances, examining how they interact with the body and their potential benefits for hospice patients.
