MDM COUNSELING AND MEDIATION SERVICES

Every third biennium, a qualified supervisor shall obtain 4 hours of supervisory training continuing education. These hours shall count toward satisfaction of the continuing education hours required for license renewal for the biennium in which the hours are taken. This course meets the CE requirement. The focus of this course will be a review of the major models of supervision; further assessment of the supervisor's personal model of supervision; review of existing models of supervision and preferred styles of therapy; review of the co-evolving dynamics of therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationships; exploration distinctive issues that arise in supervision;review of the contextual variables including culture, gender, ethnicity, power and economics; review of the ethical, legal and regulatory issues of supervision and the Florida laws and board rules governing interns and supervision, as well as, the role of evaluation in supervision.

FATSA- FLORIDA ASSOCIATION FOR THE TREAT

Abstract: The U.S. has witnessed an unprecedented rise in targeted violence, or planned attacks, involving schools, businesses, government institutions, and faith centers, leaving many to question how to prevent such tragedies. Research studying averted and perpetrated attacks has revealed key findings about attackers, including that many individuals had contact with the legal and mental health systems beforehand. This key finding highlights why clinicians, case managers, supervision officers, and judicial officials need to be aware of potential attack warning signs, as they are integral to preventing such violence. This presentation will review insights about attackers, the planning that precedes such violence, indicators suggesting an imminent attack, and ways to thwart such violence. Attendees will learn about the most common psychological issues exhibited by attackers as well as the frequently cited motivations for perpetrators. With such information, attendees will be better equipped to prevent this nationwide epidemic. Learning goals: Attendees will: 1. Be introduced to behavioral threat assessment management (BTAM) 2. This 4 hour Qualified Supervision Refresher Course will be Live & Interactive in Format and delivered via Zoom on JANUARY 23rd, 2022 1PM - 5PM. A qualified supervisor who was deemed qualified on or before March 31, 2017 must complete 4 hours of supervisor training continuing education before March 31, 2023 renewal. This interactive course will : 1.Review changes to Florida laws and rules relating to Interns and Supervisors, 2. Discuss various electronic delivery systems for supervision and methods for ensuring confidentiality, 3. Discuss ethical, legal and regulatory issues of supervision, including documentation of the supervisory sessions, 4. Review research of effective supervision models, 5. Discuss the ethical, legal, and regulatory issues of teletherapy. We have built in many opportunities for experiential learning and engagement in the course.

NETCE

This course will provide instruction on cultural competency and specialized clinical training focusing on patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender nonconforming, queer, or question their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression (LGBTQ). The instruction will provide information and skills to enable a health professional to care effectively and respectfully for patients who identify as LGBTQ. Learning Outcomes Upon the completion of this course, the learner will be able to: Define culturally relevant terminology that demonstrates cultural sensitivity and understanding. Describe intersectionality and the impact of intersecting systems of discrimination and oppression on emotional, physical and social well-being. Identify risk factors, health disparities, and strategies for minimization. Identify legal obligations related to treating patients. Describe guidelines and best practices for data storage, including appropriate collection, use, storing of sexual orientation and gender identify information. Identify personal and cultural biases to challenge or correct within a culturally competent practice. Discuss ways to engage and train support staff.

This 1-hour credit course is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Our entire country, with 95% of states creating legislation related to Marijuana, is evolving its Marijuana supply chain via the recreational and "medical" formulations. Yet, we as healthcare professionals are left with barely any education on these substances. More education is needed in order to actually provide tangible life-saving, or at least life-improving, patient education.
