This course covers various disorders, including depression, anxiety, and postpartum psychosis, and their impacts on pregnancy outcomes, infant development, and maternal mortality, particularly related to suicide and overdose. Participants will learn to differentiate "baby blues" from significant illness, use screening tools in prenatal and pediatric settings, and move to an accurate diagnosis. The course also discusses evidence-based treatment options and addresses how social determinants and systemic inequities affect perinatal mental health. Lastly, it emphasizes the importance of equitable, trauma-informed care for birthing families.
